OVEN SELECTOR SWITCH

"Licensed electrician required if not savvy with electrical circuitry. electric plug disconnected then oven has to be removed from cupboard area. top metal panels and switch covers removed. old switch removed new one fitted then each wire transferred one at a time to ensure correct fitting. test oven before replacing panels to ensure correct connections and oven operation. reassemble oven and reset clock."

"Turn power off at main switch board. remove facia then two phillips screws securing the switch. replace wires from old to new switch one for one or alternatively take a photo for ease of reference."

"The only thing to look out for is plugging in the correct wires into the correct socket. after turning off the mains power (extremely important) i then loosened the front panel phillips screws after i pulled the fan control knob off. it was a matter of pull one power lead systematically at a time and plug into the new unit so as not to mix them up."

"I watched some youtube videos on oven repairs but couldnt find any directly related to this oven. there were helpful hints in those though. for this blanco oven it involves the following - disconnect the stove from power (ours is plugged into a power-point in the adjacent cupboard) - from the front - remove the knob from the oven selector switch (it just pulls off) - remove one screw anchoring the switch and loosen the other so it can twist and push out of its housing - pull the oven out from the wall (careful not to stretch the gas connection) - from the back - take the back cover off the oven (about 12 standard philips-head screws) - note the power feed has 6 connectors on the inside of the back cover plate so note which wire is connected to which point then pull these out of the sockets (i wrote colours with marking pen on the inside of the cover) - note which wires connect to which pins on the existing switch then remove them one at a time and put them on the same pins on the new switch. note that this is a bit fiddly as you have to reach deep into the guts of the oven from the back. a pair of pliers may help with removing some of the connectors - attach one of the screws into the front of the new switch (leave it loose) and locate the switch back into the housing. make sure you have the switch sitting the same way up as the old one or the positions of the oven functions will be mis-aligned - from the front - set the switch in the right location and fit the second anchor screw then tighten both screws - i found that the little plastic orange light cover (above the oven selector switch) popped off so youll find it easier to put this back in place while you can push from the back of the oven (someone may need to help you from the front) - push the knob back onto the oven selector switch - from the back - re-attach the power connector wires ensuring you match them the way they were in the first place - re-attach the back cover plate using the screws removed earlier - from the front - push the oven back into place and plug in the power again all being well it should work again now. strangely mine didnt work straight away but when i tried it again a bit later it behaved as normal. a key hint from one of the youtube videos was about ongoing use of the knobs for the oven. you should always turn the knobs in a particular order to avoid unnecessary electrical load on the oven switch and therefore extend the life of the switch - turning on always turn the oven selector switch to the required position first then turn the temperature knob to the required setting - turning off always turn the temperature knob off first before switching the oven selector knob back to the off position."
