"Before you do anything make sure your coffee machine is unplugged from the wall for safety. for grinder removal and cleaning use the grind set adjustment on the most course setting. i would suggest laying out all the pieces in the order you remove them so you dont get mixed up when putting it back together (if you do refer to the exploded diagram on this website). if you put them on a cloth or paper towel this is a good opportunity to give them a good clean of all the stuck coffee grind - my suggestion is an old toothbrush. (keep them dry or wait until they are completely dried - you dont want a wet grinder) take apart the grinder by unlocking and removing the bean hopper then using the handle for the outside burr to unlock and remove it. then use your pliers or adjustable spanner to unlock the top nut in the centre note this is reverse-threaded. carefully remove the washers and burrs piece by piece and you will find the felt washer at the very bottom. some of these are tricky to get out with just your hands but try sticking your brush under them to lift up one side first or use pliers to pick up the whole thing from the outside. i had to replace this myself because i tried cleaning my last one and it fell apart in my hands - so be very gentle with it."
