"1. unplug machine 2. remove water reservoir 3. turn machine upside down over sink or towel 4. get a stubby short blade screwdriver. 5. unscrew the middle of the water outlet that you see the porta filter in. 6. remove the metal filter plate and screw 7. inside the small hole youll have a spring - carefully pull this out. on one end of the spring youll have a small metal sleeve that holds the rubber valve. do not lose this sleeve. note the way the sleeve sits in the spring so you can place it back in the same way. 8. remove any old rubber valve you can see in the sleeve also check the hole the half ball end of the valve may be stuck in it. 9. give it all a good clean with a small stiff brush while you are there especially the round plate with the holes for the water. i used a thin needle to remove calcium from the small holes. 10. gently stretch the spring slightly to give it a bit of extra pressure it is hard to do but dont use too much pressure in case you bend or break it. 11. slide sleeve on the end of the new rubber valve making sure the flat lip sits flush against the bottom of the half ball end and then slide into the spring. 12. place the spring back into the machine with the ball end of the valve going in first- make sure its sitting straight. 13. replace metal plate and then screw slowly - turn the screw in so it doesnt cross thread and tighten but dont overdo it. 14. turn machine back over and test unit."
