"I found the fridge was down to earth, using a megger meter tested the defrost heater as it is usually the culprit. unplug the fridge. remove the freezer shelf rear shelf supports and panel on the back of freezer, remove screws from the fan bracket and rest fan on top of the evaporator coil, remove the aluminium ties from the heater element, unplug the 2 wires and remove, replace the heater plug in wires, put ties back on (you can oil fan bearings with needle oiler), remount fan on panel and install panel, spin fan to ensure free spinning, put shelf supports and shelf back in. turn on the fridge - may not start straight away as it was most likely on a defrost cycle when it stopped, the compressor should start within an hour."

"Ensure that the freezer has been totally de-iced and turned off. relatively easy to replace the defrost heater element. remove the back cover of the freezer, carefully undo plug in connections, remove old element and replace with new part. a bit fiddly but not difficult. connect new part and put all sections back together."
